In the second novel in the Breathless trilogy, a woman's undeniable allure takes a dominant man completely by surprise...

Jace Crestwell, Ash McIntyre, and Gabe Hamilton have been best friends and successful business partners for years. They’re powerful, they’re imposing, they’re irresistibly sexy, and Jace and Ash share everything—including their women.

When they meet Bethany, Jace begins to feel things he’s never experienced before jealousy, and a powerful obsession that threatens him, overwhelms him—and excites him beyond control.

Jace isn’t sharing Bethany—with anyone. He’s determined to be the only man in her life, and it’s jeopardizing a lifelong friendship with Ash. Bethany will be his and his alone. Even if it means turning his back on his best friend.

"I was intrigued by Jace and Ash in Gabes book and couldn't wait to read it. It started off very well and I loved how they hooked up and the plot line that she was homeless and had not such a wonderful life. I really enjoyed the first half of the book and then it started dragging for me and I started really not liking Jace. He seemed to be a douche, hypocrite, et cetera. He really started grinding my gears. I loved that this series has had REAL aspects of a dominant and submissive relationship. But Jace pushed it for me. And Bethany, I really loved her in the first half of the book also. My favorite moment with her was when she let loose, took control, and she of course was drunk. I felt that Jace was truly bad for Bethany, I dunno. I really didn't love their story and it went downhill for me. The ending felt rushed and I was feeling like I am missing something. Not sure. The first book was the best so far and I LOVED Gabe. He is my new man, way better than Christian or Gideon. That book was a 10 star, this, well, not sure about this one. I feel a bit let down and I feel like Jace should of been better, maybe I seen something in Rush that I didn't actually see. Maybe this one just wasn't my cup of tea, mot sure the reason. It wasn't horrible, but was NOT great either. I will give Ash's book a read because I am curious, as was I with Jace. To see what happens and see what happens to him. And of course, more Mia and Gabe! love those two. Now those two I could read about FOREVER! I would recommend the series though, others may love it. It's worth a try.

"The truth is I want you in any way I can have you. The truth is if you told me right now that you could never submit to me, never give me what I want so badly from you, that it wouldn't matter. I'd take you any way I could have you. The truth is I'm not letting you go."

"You'll never be lost, baby. Never again. I'll always find you. No matter where you go, I'll always be there to bring you home.""

  • I hated Bethany. Such a weak heroine. And it's ironic, because I can tell the author wanted to give her a backstory to make her strong homeless, overcame drug addiction, etc. But her personality was super annoying. Whine, whine, whine. Constantly making stupid decisions and choices. It's like she couldn't think ahead even one step. Immature and such a weak, empty character. I'm shocked any guy would be interested in her. These love at first sight stories never make sense. "Something about her" drew him in the moment he saw her? Well, what KEPT her in? Because nothing about her would have had a real human man sticking around. Hopefully the 3rd book brings it back around.
  • I was sadly disappointed by this book. I LOVED "Rush" & a small part of me hoped this second book would continue with Gabe & Mia's story instead of moving along to Jace, but I read it anyway. In all honesty, I think the books would have been better if they HAD continued on with Gabe & Mia's story, including marriage & children.

Instead, we were given Jace's story. A very unrealistic, almost painful read.

    1. I'm pretty sure "her eyes widened" was the MOST frequent line in this whole book. Generally, female readers are the ones reading these types of "romance" books. We want to be able to identify with the main female character so that we can relate & picture ourselves in her place. Aside from her being homeless, Beth was a very weak-willed character. She seemed timid & weak throughout the whole book and I found myself rolling my eyes at how often she seemed to just stare at whoever was talking to her with "wide eyes". She spent 80% of this book like a deer in headlights.

    2. Can we just talk about the excessive cursing for a second? I'm no prude, but is it seriously necessary that "Jace swore" (& every other curse word) need to be used in every other sentence? He doesn't need to "cross the CURSE street", we can just "cross the street". These men are supposed to be respectable, billionare business men. I understand that they clearly lead very different lives behind closed doors, but curse words every 10 words just makes me feel like I'm reading a teenage boy's diary.

    3. Enough Anal sex. I'm willing to bet that the number of men who find anal sex "hot" far exceeds the amount of women who do. Once or twice? Okay. Every time they have sex? Gross.

P.s. If you're looking for a good laugh, listen to this audiobook.
  • I'm not even going to go into all the reasons this book was so terrible as to be insulting (especially after I actually paid for it). There are plenty of other 1 and 2 star reviews here which are both thorough and accurate (pity I didn't heed them before I spent my money).

I'm only going to say the following If anyone can direct me to ONE single conversation between the two Hs in this book that was not about their relationship or sex, I will bump my rating up by one star per conversation. I'm guessing that even given that advantage, this book would achieve no higher than a 2 star rating from me. That's only because while I was skimming to keep down the nausea, it's possible (though not probable that missed something.

I see a lot of people on here sort of apologizing for bad ratings in light of all the good ratings. Everyone says "maybe this book is for someone." I'm not going to tell you that. You'd have to be 8 to find this writing style compelling and then you'd be too young for the sex scenes so NO this book is not for anyone. It's the publishing company who owes us all apologies.
