    Feeling overwhelmed? So was I. Here's what you should do get out your yellow highlighter, red ink pen, and pencil, and read through the entire book once. Get ready to take notes in the margins, in the front and back pages of the book, maybe start a document with your ideas. THEN, go back, after reading the ENTIRE book, and re-read your highlighted and underlined parts. That's when you start crafting your overall Music Marketing Strategy. The reason it's necessary to cover everything, is because you want to have a holistic, comprehensive music marketing plan. And you can't do that if you haven't covered all the different aspects that are possible. In fact, skipping some chapters may lead you to do things that might be unnecessary or irrelevant if you haven't covered the entire book first. "Figuring out how to combine everything is what makes your personal strategy your own sculpture" (page 20).

    Not only does this book show and tell you how to build your fan base, it also gives you HOPE. If you don't know what you're doing, or maybe you THINK you know what to do, I promise you, this book will become your new BIBLE of go-to information. It gives you HOPE because you see that there are so many avenues to reach people, that have been proven to work, after a while you will start to think, "wow, even if I just do SOME of these things, I should get some results". It will truly open your eyes to all of the amazing things that are possible, if you just put in the work. And I would daresay that you can probably think of musicians in the marketplace who might not have the best music, but they just had great marketing. What if you have both?

    Do yourself a favor. BUY THIS BOOK, READ IT, AND IMPLEMENT.
  • This is my wife's account because would not let me write this on mine because I bought the book with our prime account which is hers. I'm writing this review to get a free ecopy of the 2018 version. That there tells you I liked it enough to want more. I talked to Jesse through email which normally doesn't happen with authors, and I imagine as his popularity grows will be harder to do. He and I disagree on a few things, but we come from the same old school diy world so we see eye to eye on a lot. My criticisms about this book are 1. it's too long 2. it's too focused on getting fans rather than being active with actual music making—ways to get shows and the ins and outs of making videos need way more focus 3. small details get outdated almost as fast as it gets published. The biggest criticism I have is that it's too darn long. The book could lean a little more towards the motivation side of things too like in his book Processing Creativity which I thoroughly enjoyed the audio version. I really wish Get More Fans had an audio version. Directories don't translate into an audio version very well needless to say the length would be insane, but I would love to hear an audio version. And that there really tells what this book is—a music business directory. I would argue the most useful one ever written.

  • Buy this Book, don't think about it, just buy it and you WILL thank yourself later. I don't write many reviews, but this book is full of wisdom and insight about how you should approach all aspects of your music career (and all your business in general), that it would be a dis-service for me not to write about it. First off, I have been purchasing "music business books" since 1994 and while I always gained a nugget or two of knowledge from them, I have never read a book that presented an entire "roadmap" for music business success. I have purchased all the books you see here on from "Hack Your Hit" to "Future Hit DNA" and while those books are helpful, they don't compare to the 40+ chapters (600 pages!) that encompasses what you get here. This book will not only help you gain and attract fans on sites like Twitter and Facebook, but offer you with a philosophy on HOW to gain and attract these fans. It will also give you a list of about 100 other social networks and other sites that you probably never knew about and HOW to go about utilizing them successfully. It also will teach you how to get your songs licensed, how to prepare for the studio, how to get on tour and about everything else you would need to know about the modern music industry (along with a plethora of contacts to get you started, and how to use them). In my opinion this is the complete MUSIC BIBLE for DIY musicians. BUY IT
